Former Professor and Head of Pathology at the Tata Memorial Centre, India and currently serves as Co-Chair of the Education Committee for the Asian Society of Digital Pathology.
A true pioneer in the field, she has led advancements in Clinical Molecular Diagnostics, Digital Pathology, AI, and Cancer Biobanking in India. With over 270 publications and contributions to 10 books, her expertise spans oncopathology, molecular diagnostics, digital pathology, and research bioethics.
Her contributions have shaped national and international standards, including the ICMR National Ethical Guidelines and ISO standards for telehealth. Dr. Desai has been recognized with numerous accolades, including the 'Outstanding International Surveyor' award by FERCAP, the 'Pioneer in Biobanking' award by BBIF, and most recently, a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2025.
